Sanitary Disposal Unit

Powder Room Services uses the world first TerraCyclic™ Bio Bin System. TerraCyclic™ Bio Bin is the ideal sanitary disposal unit for:

  • commercial and public buildings
  • health-care and learning facilities
  • work sites
  • buses, boats, planes and trains

Simple

  • This minimal-contact sanitary waste disposal system is easy for women to use.
  • The streamlined outer cylinder saves space and looks smart.
  • A self-deodorising inner liner (cartridge) seals-in sanitary waste.
  • Units are wall mounted which allow cleaners to effectively clean underneath the bin.

Safe

  • This no-clean, minimal-handling washroom services system protects users and cleaning staff.
  • The sealed cartridges mean no one touches the waste products, reducing exposure to harmful bacteria and lowering the risk of cross infection.
  • The plastic components and deodorising chemicals are biodegradable and safe for the environment.
  • Each unit is charged with MAF approved saniquills which release a protective vapour throughout the entire unit, safeguarding all users against harmful bacteria associated with pathogenic waste.

Environmentally Friendly

  • The Terracyclic Bio Bin system utilizes a disposable cartridge and permanent base. A degrading additive manufactured by EPI in Canada is mixed into the cartridge components, which in turn facilitates complete biodegradability of the cartridge once land filled. The base unit is able to be totally recycled when replaced. A Two Star rating has been awarded by Carbon Footprint UK for this product

Aesthetically Pleasing

  • The units come in three sizes and are available in white plastic or brushed stainless.

Frequently Asked Questions

We only have a few ladies. Is a sanitary disposal unit necessary?

Powder Room Services encourages safe disposal whether you have one female or 100 females in the workplace. Bacteria is said to multiply and double itself every 20 minutes if dressings are not kept in a sanitised state. Flushing can be an embarrassing and expensive exercise if no unit is available. This can also lead to environmental issues. Females even from teenage years can suffer from extremely heavy periods through endometriosis meaning they must change dressings regularly.

Are the units safe to use?

Powder Room Services have designed the units realising the issue of menstruation can be a sensitive one. The units are charged with a proven germicide that produces a vapour to protect the unit from the base to the lid. The unique design means users have the option to dispose of dressings without touching the unit. The unit is approved by MAF C32 and MAF QM ref 1317 approved for food, beverage, dairy farms and factories.

How are the units biodegradable?

TDPA (totally degradable plastic additive) ensures the plastic undergoes oxidative degradation and breaks down into brittle fragments. This happens as a result of exposure to heat or UV light. Microbes can use them as a food source. TDPA has been validated in full scale landfill and composting trials. Even exposure to open air, sunlight and wind will mean that the plastic will degrade minimising pollution and physical harm to wildlife. TDPA is non-toxic to sensitive plants and animals.
Refer EPI Canada website for further details.

How are the contents disposed of?

Powder Room Services dispose of all waste material in strict accordance with the New Zealand Resource Management Act and in accordance with the Standards Association of New Zealand NZS3404:1990 Health Care Waste Management.
